TICKETS are still available for this year's Local Heroes Awards, the ceremony's tenth anniversary, at Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield on Thursday December 3.
Why not join one of the dozens of North-East celebrities for the evening at the region's largest grassroots ceremony. Durham County Cricket Club's' Geoff Cook has confirmed his attendance with former Olympic athletes Steve Cram and Allison Curbishley. Darlington manager Steve Staunton, his assistant Kevin Richardson and youth coach Craig Liddle will also be there alongside owner Raj Singh and several of the club's players.
Former Quakers' management duo, now at Oldham Athletic, Dave Penney and Martin Gray will also be at the glittering ceremony.
Hartlepool boss Chris Turner has agreed to attend, while several Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough stars of the past and present have agreed to join The Northern Echo for a truly memorable evening.
The judging for this year's Local Heroes Awards was from one of the strongest list of finalists in the ceremony's history.
Judges met at Bannatyne's Hotel in Darlington and sifted through a record number of entries from the world of grassroots sport.
Aswell as the usual entries from football, cricket and athletics, there were also nominations from sports ranging from water polo to kite surfing.
Last year's overall winner was rugby coach Ted Wood who followed in the footsteps of darts ace, and former World BDO Championship finalist, the Ferryhill Flyer, Phill Nixon.
The evening will also raise money for Sports Aid Northern, a charity which enables disadvantaged children in our region participate in sport.
